Independent furniture retailer to begin total liquidation January 22

EAST TAWAS, Mich. (January 20, 2026) — Murphy’s Home Furnishings will close its doors after providing quality furniture to East Tawas and surrounding communities for the past decade. The store begins its final liquidation January 22 with once-in-a-lifetime prices on all inventory.

Owner Dan Murphy has led Murphy’s Home Furnishings for 10 years, focusing on dependable service, competitive pricing, and a broad selection of whole home furnishings. The 24,000-square-foot showroom is among the largest furniture displays in Northeast Michigan, designed to give customers access to a wide range of styles and categories in one convenient location. Murphy is an active member of the East Tawas Area Chamber of Commerce and has remained engaged in the local business community throughout his time as owner of Murphy’s Home Furnishings. Following the conclusion of the final sale, he plans to pursue other business opportunities.
